This list includes all versions of The Doctor that has a established place in the lineage. Besides traveling about in a time machine that looks like a blue police box, The TARDIS, The Doctor is a Time Lord. A Time Lord should only be able to regenerate twelve times allowing there to be only thirteen version of said character. This of course was to explain why the character survived death which would allow the 'possibility' of mass healing resulting in a complete new form and personality. Allows the actor to leave when time came to without cancelling the series. Sometimes it felt like a reboot and other times felt like business as usual.

Of course, the creators of the show had no idea that a show invented in 1963 would continue into 2025.

In spite of the obvious changes, The Doctor at the core is a heroic meddler. Wanders about to see the universe but will step in to help when the need arrives though Time Lords are not meant to do, in theory.
