Man, the summer of 1989 was awesome for movies. Sequels were great; dark comedies were fun again and the superhero genre got a jumpstart. Here are my picks 10. ‘Dead Poet Society’ – A coming of age film about growing up and learning life in the littlest details.
9. ‘License To Kill’ - Vengeance is deadly when you are 007 and no longer an agent of her majesty’s secret service.
8. ‘Lethal Weapon 2’ – Cop versus a gang of South African drug smugglers hiding under diplomatic immunity.
7. ‘Road House’ – A philosophical bouncer has come to not save a bar but a town under a crime boss.
6. ‘Uncle Buck’ – A lazy but good-natured bachelor is called in, cause no one else can, to watch his brother’s kids. Nothing stays normal.
5. ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ – A nutty scientist accidentally shrinks his two kids and two of their neighbors. A yard will become a obstacle to survive.
4. ‘Weekend At Bernie’s’ – How to survive a weekend at a resort where you are a target for the mob? Make sure no one knows Bernie is dead.
3. ‘Indiana Jone and the Last Crusade’ – Jones must team up with his father to uncover the Holy Grail before the Nazis get their hands on it.
2. ‘Ghostbusters II’ – After a time apart, The Ghostbusters must come back together as a great evil spirit seeks to be reborn through a baby thus bringing resurrected ghouls upon New York.
1. ‘Batman’ – The legend is reborn as we witness the beginning of ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Crown Prince of Crime’. Dark and gothic but unforgettable.
