MY TOP 15 FAVORITE CARTOON THEME SONGS WITH LYRICS

Anyone who knows me is quite aware I am fond of animation. Not particularly a huge fan of live action. Of course I do watch some live action shows and films but usually more sci-fi or fantasy. Cartoons are much more fun. Don't have to worry about believing that you are watching reality so no limits at all. To make this list the song must be catchy and tell the basic story in tone of word and melody. Of course not all shows on my list are fantastic but the theme songs were awesome. Sold the story and quite catchy. Stays in the brain forever no matter how we may struggle. Check out Youtube for these theme songs and see how they not only sell the shows they represent, but may actually over sell them in the end. Yes, I am aware this is only twenty but that doesn't mean I do not like many others because I do. I love theme songs but these are the ones that stay in my head causing me to randomly sing them at the strangest times.

15.Animaniacs (1993) - In the 1930's, Warner Brothers Studios created The Warner Brothers Wakko and Yakko with younger sister, Dot. The cartoons they starred in were consider too weird and all knowledge of them were kept secret as they were locked into the Warner Lot Water Tower for decades. Now free, they and all that they represent throws everything on it's head in the insanity that follows them.

14. Underdog (1964) - When trouble calls, Shoe Shine Boy runs into a phone booth, exploding through it as Under Dog. Talking in rhymes, he defends the city against gangster dogs and evil mad scientists ready to save reporter/girl friend, Polly Purebreed. Running gag, Under Dog was a bit of a klutz but well meaning.

13. What's New Scooby Doo (2002) - Scooby-Doo with Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy, travel to various weird locations solving mysteries. Velma is shy and smart; Daphne is a socialite and tech savvy; Shaggy and Scooby cautious/cowardly and Fred is gung ho/trap savvy. this format is modernized for What's New, Scooby-Doo?, in which the characters utilize technology that did not exist at the time Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! first aired.

12. Darkwing Duck (1991) - Drake Mallard dons a mask to fight crime as Darkwing Duck. A bit egotistical but well meaning, he teams up with pilot, Launchpad McQuack and trying to deal with his wild adopted daughter, Gosling. The villains very much in the style of Batman.

11. The Adventures of the Gummi Bears (1985) - In Gummi Glen are the last of a once great race of Gummis. Regarded by many as myths the bears are gentle, clever, loveable creatures who want to live in peace with people with difficulty. The Gummis make this juice called, 'Gummi Berry Juice allowing them to bounce with super human results. If a person drinks the juice they temporarily get super strength meaning that those with evil intentions will hunt them for it. Plenty of human allies and life lesson abound in this lovely medieval magic world.

10. Sonic the Hedgehog (1993) - The Fastest Thing Alive. On Saturday Mornings, the series was fun, dark and serious as the show explored ideas including science vs nature and soul vs machine. Doctor Robotnik leads his machines against a rebel group of animals. Robotnik is a huge creepy threat compared to Sonic's flip attitude hero with confidence larger then the world he defends.

9. Count Duckula (1988) - The surreal adventures of a vegetarian vampire duck seeking fame and fortune with servants Nanny and Igor in their Time traveling castle.

8. Ducktales (1987) - The Globe trotting adventures of Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby and Scrooge McDuck looking for treasure and mystery abound.

7. The Transformers (1984) - The Great War of Cybertron wages on Earth as The Autobots and The Decepticons fight for both survival and domination. Robots in Disguise, More then Meets the Eyes. The series was great especially the third season as it got more fantasy spreading out to other planets and more non human characters. By the way the show told good stories while having cool toys.

6. The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008) - Teenage Peter Parker tries to juggle his life as he must learn how to use his new powers and responsibilities as Spider-Man while keeping it a secret. As important as school is to Peter, Spider-Man is expected to be a super hero and protect New York. He tries and fails at time facing the consequences that he is not completely in control but struggles to succeed.

5. Pinky and the Brain (1995) - Chaos with the genius mouse (known as Brain) and his insane sidekick (known as Pinky) who try to conquer the world each night. The plans never work, probably due to the complicated nature, but the humor is wonderful. Brain talks in a dry intellectual style while Pinky talks in silly pop culture nonsense but he is loyal to his friend.

4.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) - Heroes in a Half Shell. Raised in the sewers by a rat, four turtles, and the rat called Splinter, are mutated by mutagen ooz. Splinter grants them names, Donatello; Leonardo; Raphael and Michelangelo and tecahes them the art of the Ninja. Together with their human friend, April, contend with Shredder and the Evil Foot Clan. This version was based on the toy line and was much more humor driven than the series. 3.Phineas and Ferb (2007) - Summer is a long time to spend with friends and nothing to do. That is if you are Phineas and Ferb. Step brothers and geniuses invent things on a daily basis to amuse themselves. No one seems to have working eyes in this town as their mother and other adults don't see these reality defying creations that disappear in an instant. Their sister, Candace is obsesses in proving that they are doing dangerous stuff but in the end looks crazy. An they have a platypus, Perry, who is a spy. No one is aware that one except for Candace's friend, Stacey.

2. Cyber Six (2000) - A female genetically altered humanoid android battles her evil creator's forces as a mysterious superhero, poses as a male teacher in a small town. The animation and design was awesome.

1. Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010) - Brought together by need and cause: Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and many others to defend Earth. This was made before Disney bought Marvel and explored heavily the comics that inspired the show.
