I like the color of green. I like cartoons and comics. So why not talk about both in a lovely top ten. These are one I really love. I mean I go back these characters anytime it means a show or movie, and most definitely a comic book. A great ride when you add video games in there because that the best of all worlds.
10.Swamp Thing (DC Comics)
Alec Hollen was a scientist, typical trope. Studied plant life in the Louisiana swamp land. I smell an origin story. Wife killed and he is blown up in his lab by a criminal boss. Dives into the swamp and the chemicals transforms him into Swamp Thing. He now fights crimes; supernatural monsters and the occult to protect The Earth. Trippy stuff. He is literally a walking and talking tree.
9.Shrek and Fiona (Shrek)
A love story that could only happen in the movies. Ogre that is not well liked. Princess needed rescuing. She was looking for a prince so she chose to be rescued and later needed to really be rescued. Ogre, with a obnoxious donkey, takes on the quest so to get rid of squatters in his swamp. Saves princess and falls in love. She turns into an Ogre at night and with a true loves kiss from Shrek, she stay green forever. A love meant to be. And they wind up having triplets.
8.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mirage/Nickelodeon)
Heroes in a Half Shell. Donatello; Leonardo; Raphael and Michelangelo raised by a rat named splinter. They eat pizza; they fight crime and studies the way of a ninja. Their brothers in every way possible. They may argue with each other, but they will always fight for each other. Turtle Power!!
7.Luigi (Super Mario Brothers)
Mario's twin brother, who in spite of being younger is way taller then Mario. Wear green overalls too in case you get him confused. More on the common sense and a little skittish but loyal to his brother.
6.Green Lantern (DC Comics)
An intergalactic police force that wields green power rings that can create mental constructs enforced by sheer will. Cool stuff. Different planets are in different sectors protected by a different Green Lantern. By the way, green symbolizes The Will. There have been Lanterns of the Corp who have resembled: planets; females; males; humans; dogs; fish and everything else. Earth has had boat load of Green Lanterns. Not sure why but here we are. My favorite is Kyle Raynar, due to him being a cartoonist.
5.Theodore (Alvin and The Chipmunks)
The little brother of Alvin and Simon Seville, Theodore is the drummer of 'The Chipmunks'. Loves food and is gentle hearted who just wants go through life happy. Short and has a tummy, not to mention the long green shirt which is hard to miss. No dim witted but naive in someways while being insightful at the same time.
4.Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes)
You cannot see his face except for a large pair of eyes bugging out a green brush style roman helmet surround in black shadow. We have seen him without the helmet, and he is literally a black ball on a small body. Sneakers and a gladiator skirt. Usually with a dim witted dog. Marvin has a high pitched voice, coming out of nowhere, with the desire to blow up Earth for the glory of Mars. Such a comedy relief villain that you know it getting beat, but you love him. He gets beat a lot by Bugs Bunny by the way.
3.Kermit The Frog (The Muppets)
The host of 'The Muppet Show' and singer of the greatest tune, 'Rainbow Connection'. Long suffering and good nature fellow with a shrill voice to match that occasional panic. Besides he is made of felt and a puppet. What is there not to love about such an icon?
2.The Frankenstein Monster (Universal Monsters)
Stitched together from dead bodies to form a new creation dreamt by Victor Frankenstein. Rotting pieces of forgotten souls that were green as moldy time. Loved the original novel by Mary Shelly, which honestly can never truly be made as a honest adaptation. So many layers beyond just, 'Hey, let us play God'.
1.The Eighth Doctor (Doctor Who)
In 1996, Paul McGann became the eighth incarnation of The Time Traveler, known simply as 'The Doctor'. His race of Time Lords, when facing death, can regenerate at least twelve times into a completely new appearance and attitude while remaining technically the same person. The Eighth Doctor was heroic and very human. Dressed more like Wyatt Earp and Oscar Wilde, this incarnation was famous for the long velvet green coat that tended to look darker in different like. Appearance wise, The Doctor always looks human. Yeah, a bit boring.
