- I IDENTIFY AS A COUCH
If I had to be anything but me, I would probably be a couch. I am comfortable; been sat on by my daughter; her friends; nieces and nephews through their little child years. Like some TV and prefer a nice beverage and pretzels. Don't mind a little bit of a mess and I am disheveled at times. Shown some age but still welcomed by friends. Don't mind a good nap either. Overall, I am comfortable in spite of a few broken springs and matted cushions. Wear it well I think. Did I mention I look good in brown. Born in the 1970's, therefore of course, brown. I'm a listener. No judging on my part.
- WHAT I AM MEANT TO DO?
I am a Security Guard. Yeah. Been one for almost 22 years. The longest run in any job I have ever held. The longest run that anyone in my immediate family has ever done in one job. Not a bad run. Has had it's ups and downs. Dealt with some wonderful people and dealt with some better not remembered for their behavior. I'm king of the asylum so to speak. I didn't think I would be here this long. I have stayed because it fit what my family needs. It is a job and not my life. Thank God for that. Seen plenty who burned themselves out with that attitude. 'I am the job!' is kind of a narrow view of things. Can't love you. I would like to think that I have more good then bad at my place of employment. If you know you know. Good outweighs the bad. Dealt with plenty of abuse and praise. I have learned many things in my time here. How to approach people. How to handle situations. And most of all how to be okay with me. Still working on that one. I like being needed. I like helping people. Bit of a bar tender here at the main desk. Hear a lot about people talking about this and that. Just need to talk to someone sometimes. We all do. I have learned to be more me. In other words, strange with my tone of voice; laughter; attitude and how answer things. Meaning, I am unpredictable. Security was not my job goal. Needed the job. My goal once upon a time, was to put Marvel and DC Comics out of business. I wanted to make my career as a comic book artist and writer. That has not happened. I have accepted that result. With that said, I have had some success. Self published some comics. Continue to write and produce my own website, barnsyink.com . And I make and customize toys. A daily comic strip on said website. Save money on greeting cards by making them myself. Birthday; anniversary and wedding posters for many of our friends. I give most of what I make away as gifts. I already have job. I enjoy creating things. I enjoy it more being able to share this God given talent with others. They are not my talents, they are Gods. He just gave them to me to rent. If I make money, great. If I don't that is okay too. If someone laughs or feels good for a little while, by what I do, then good.God takes care of the rest.
- HAVE FAITH
Jesus Christ is salvation. There is no if; and or buts. It's the truth. More than a feeling. It is logic that concludes all faiths that proclaim an almighty. Christ is God. God is Good. Among the Chaos there is a Light. The only way home. One Direction to Forever powered by Truth. Truth that ignites Life Forever with love; joy; forgiveness and hope. That is home. That is heaven, the reward for a life lived. A place for everyone who sees it by acceptance. We are whole and one. Differences forgotten at last to see what unites us. Faith alone leads to the door. And Christ is that one and only key through the door.
- It’s that time again.
Time for me to say hello and check on each and everyone of you. Make sure you all doing okay. I know we worry about stuff and it can be at times crippling. We are not alone. We are all in this together, just at different depths. God lives in this world and we are not forsaken. We see a chunk of life but not the whole picture. By reacting in a positive beat is which shows God is reaching out. Through each of us as we are kind; forgiving; loving; hopeful; merciful and accepting, we show God exists to another. We see a chance and hold it until it grows. Let’s hold onto each other. Not sub divide away m. Draw from each other that good that God lit. At the heart we find Christ and he shows the way. Listen for it.

- TWENTY FILM SEQUELS THAT CAN BE EDITED DOWN TO TELL ONE SOLID STORY JUST BY REMOVING A FILM OR TWO
A show of hands, who likes tons of sequels? Anyone? No one? Okay anyway. Some franchises go waaaaay to long losing the story that began the franchise. More like a serial so to speak. Day in the life with merely the title connecting the other movies. In fact, many on this list have separate titles. even the one numbered, could easily have the numbers removed or replaced with new titles. New characters; new direction and confusion. I have taken ten well known franchises and chopped out the side quests to stay focused in one direction. You are welcome. 1) STAR TREK 'Star Trek II': 'The Wrath Of Khan' (1982); 'Star Trek III: Search For Spock' (1984); 'Star Trek IV: Voyage Home' (1986) and 'Star Trek VI: Undiscovered Country' (1991) Omitted Sequels : 'Star Trek' (1979); 'Star Trek V: Final Frontier' (1989). First one was slow but good. Stand alone pretty. The fifth one was silly and lacked production value. Story: An aging Captain and his crew facing an ever changing Universe that forces them to push back with ever ending obstacles of life; death and acceptance. 2) STAR WARS 'Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith' (2005); 'Star Wars: A New Hope' (1977); 'Star Wars: Empire Strike Back' (1980); 'Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi' (1983) Omitted Sequels: 'Star Wars Episode 1: Phantom Menace' (1999); 'Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones' (2002). Tedious storytelling with a lot of padding. Episode filled everything the audience needed to know to go forward without the other two. Story: Decent and redemption of Anakin Skywalker as the Galaxy burns and rebuilds as his children rise. 3) BATMAN 'Batman' (1989): 'Batman Returns' (1992): 'Batman Forever' (1995) Omitted Sequels: 'Batman and Robin'. It was too silly and did not connect to the three previous films. Story: The burden of Bruce Wayne as he embraces the tragedy and triumph of Batman. 4) SUPERMAN 'Superman' (1978); 'Superman 2' (1980) and 'Superman Returns' (2006) Omitted Sequels: 'Superman 3' (1983) and Superman 4: The Quest For Peace' (1987). Both dealt too much in padding and comedy. Barely coherent. Story: Stranger in a strange land. 5) TERMINATOR 'Terminator: Salvation' (2009); 'Terminator' (1984); 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' (- the alternate ending 1991) Omitted Sequels: ' Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' (2003), Terminator Genisys (2015), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) were all attempts to reboot the franchise with diminishing results. Story : Time can be rewritten. 6) ROCKY 'Rocky' (1976); 'Rocky II' (1979); 'Rocky III' (1982) and 'Rocky Balboa' (2006) Omitted Sequels: 'Rocky IV (1985) and 'Rocky V' (1990). Propaganda and an attempt to go back to basics in a really convoluted way. Story: A Boxer goes the distance to find what is more valuable then glory, love. 7) RAMBO 'Rambo: First Blood' (1982); 'John Rambo' (2008); 'Rambo: Last Blood' (2019) Omitted Sequels: 'Rambo 2' (1985) and 'Rambo 3' (1988). These two films remade Rambo from a Vietnam vet who was suffering PTSD, to action hero globe trotting to right wrongs. Doesn't work as part of this narrative. Story: A Vietnam Vet goes to prison for launching a war in a small town and its sheriff. Upon his release, tries to rebuild his life and lay to rest old wounds. 8) THE KARATE KID 'The Karate Kid' (1984) and 'The Karate Kid part 2' (1986) Omitted Sequels: 'The Karate Kid' part 3' (1989). Tried to recapture the success of the first but was a bad imitation. 'The Next Karate Kid' (1994) and 'Karate Kid' (aka 'Kung Fu Kid' 2010) were simply reboots. Story: An outsider challenges the norm to prove himself through Karate and help from his teacher. 9) THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 'The Fast and the Furious' (2001); '2 Fast and 2 Furious' (2003); 'Fast and Furious (2009) and Fast Five' (2011) Omitted Sequels: 'The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift' (2006); 'Fast & Furious 6' (2013): 'Furious 7' (2015); 'The Fate of the Furious' (2017); 'F9' (2021); 'Fast X' (2023). The franchise became much more spy type stuff that felt it should be a entire separate franchise. Story: Street racers and car thieves that fight to escape this crime world as a makeshift family. 10) MEET THE… 'Meet The Parents' (2000) and 'Meet The Fockers' (2004) Omitted Sequels: 'Little Fockers' was boring and lacked the charm of the first two. No longer dealing with weird in laws as much as everyday miscommunications. Story: The weirdness of family on the left and the right. 11) THE GHOSTBUSTERS ' The Ghostbusters' (1984); 'The Ghostbusters' (1989) and 'Ghostbusters: After Life' (2021) Omitted Sequels: 'The Ghostbusters' (2016)' and 'The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' (2024).One was a reboot that failed and the other was a continuation of 'Afterlife' but a reboot inside of that sequel, kind of. Story: Who Are You Gonna Call? Got to get rid of all those Ghosts. 12) TRANSFORMERS 'Transformers: One' (2024); 'Transformers: Bumblebee' (2018); 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' (2023); 'The Transformers The Movie' (1986) Omitted Sequels: 'The Transformers' (2007); 'The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' (2009); 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' (2011); 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' (2014); 'The Transformers: The Last Knight' (2017). These films were loosely connected but felt like reboots each time with changes in the stories that seem more episodic then one continuing story. Story: The rise of The Transformers of Cybertron that evolved into a war against their creator; themselves and mere survival against the odds. 13) HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 'Hotel Transylvania' (2012); Hotel Transylvania 2' (2015); 'Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation' (2018) Omitted Sequels: Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022) was direct to video and felt more like TV pilot then a continuation of a long term franchise. Story: The evolution of Dracula, from being hateful of outsiders to accepting them into his life as daughter, Mavis, marries one. Talk of a blended family. 14) DESPICABLE ME 'Despicable Me' (2010); Despicable Me 2' (2013); Despicable Me 4' (2024) Omitted Sequels: 'Despicable Me' 3 (2017) felt like a start of a new fraction by introducing Gru's ,long lost Twin Brother, Dru. Story: Gru was the greatest criminal in the world until he adopted three girls; turned good; becomes a secret agent; marries a fellow spy and has a son. 15) MADAGASCAR 'Madagascar' (2005); 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008) Omitted Sequels: 'Madagascar 3: Europes' Most Wanted' (2012). Seemed taked on and unnecessary. Story: Alex the Lion; Marty the Zebra; Melman the giraffe and Gloria the Hippo find their lives turned upside down as Marty wanted more then living a New York Zoo. A misunderstanding at a bus station causes them to wind in Madagascar. From there Africa and seemly a good ending. 16) HIGHLANDER 'Highlander' (1986) and 'Highlander: Endgame' (2000) Omitted Sequels: 'Highlander 2: The Quickening' (1991); 'Highlander 3: Final Dimension' (1994); 'Highlander: The Source' (2007). These films tried to change the focus of the original film. It was no longer mere fantasy but was tried to be retooled as sci-fi and was disjointed to the point it felt limke diferent franchises. Story: They are Immortal and can live for centuries. Never aging or dying except one way. A beheading. It 's the time of the 'Gathering'. With a stroke of a sword and the drop of a head, comes the quickening. In the end, there can be only one. 17) TOY STORY 'Toy Story' (1995); 'Toy Story 3' (2010) and 'Toy Story 4' (2019) Omitted Sequels: 'Toy Story 2' (1999) was, again, a side story that really adds nothing to the narrative. Story: Life changes and even toys grow up along with their owners. Espeically if you are Buzz Lightyear and Woody. 18) NEVERENDING STORY 'The Neverending Story' (1984); 'The Neverending Story' (1990) Omitted Sequels: 'The Neverending Story 3' (1994) was a low budget poorly done ignoring the last two films with a paper thin plot that was divorce of any real fantasy element that made the first two memorable. Story: The Book of The Neverending Story. The world of Fantasia and how it forever connected to Bastion Balbazar Bucks as two realities meet. 19) SHREK 'Shrek' (2001); Shrek 2' (2004) and 'Shrek The Third' (2007) Omitted Sequels: 'Shrek Ever After' (2010) is the odd one out fourth film. It was more stand alone that takes it's cues from 'It's A Wonderful Life'. A world without Shrek as he feels that his life is too burden. Story: The story of mean old Shrek the ogre as he wins the girl; proves his worth as a hero and learns how accept change. 20) THE HOBBIT 'The Hobbit' (1977); 'The Return of the King' (1980) Omitted Sequels: 'Lord of the Rings(1978) was made by a different production company and was focused mainly on a fellowship to destroy a ring made by the Dark Lord Sauron . This film was developed as more of a stand alone as 'Return of the King' was treated as a direct sequel to 'The Hobbit'. This in spite of 'Lord of the Rings' came in between the two Rankin/Bass films. Story: The legacy of the Ring of Power. Once used for good by Bilbo Baggins, and now it ruination has found nephew, Frodo Baggins. In the wars that rage this ring must be destroyed. .
- MY FAVORITE TEN GARRY MARSHALL FILMS
Garry Marshall was probably one of the best film makers in my opinion. He had a incredible knack of casting the right people; playing the right and developing character. You wanted to care about these people. You wanted to see them win. Full three dimensions flushed out with human skin. Easily relatable in most cases. Ironically, Marshall only would be behind the camera for about twenty two films. Honestly, he was better known as an actor of Television and film. Quite funny in fact. 10. ‘Dear God’ - 1996 Con man working at a post office answering letters sent to God. 9. 'How Sweet It Is’ - 1968 A dysfunctional family vacation. 8. ‘Beaches’ - 1988 A undying friendship between a privileged girl and a show biz actress through the good and bad times of childhood to adulthood. 7. ‘Nothing In Common’ - 1986 A man must decide what is more important, making business partner at a firm or taking care of his parents. 6. ‘Frankie and Johnny’ - 1991 Two people who have plenty of baggage, that work at a restaurant find a kinship in their bumps along the way. 5. ‘Overboard’ - 1987 Rich spoiled heiress hits her head losing her memory. A cheated out of his money carpenter decide to teach her humility by pretending that they are married. In time, she learns the truth but becomes a better person and real love grows. 4. ‘Georgia Rules’ - 2007 Damaged teenager goes to,live with Grandmother, and learns to face the truth regarding abuse at the hands of her step father. 3. ‘Runaway Bride’ - 1999 Reporter wants to fix his reputation by writing a story about a small town woman who has a reputation of ditching her fiancees at the altar. In the process we see that both are much more a like. 2. ‘Pretty Woman’ - 1990 Rich businessman learns humanity from a prostitute who he hires to stay with him for a week at a fancy hotel. There is a good in him but lacks people skills which he finds along the way. 1. ‘The Other Sister’ - 1996 Carla is the youngest of three daughters to a wealthy family. Her mom does not know how to relate to her as Carla is mentally disabled, spending her younger days in an institution. Carla's older sister is gay trying to find acceptance from their mother and the middle child is spoiled rotten. The truth is that the daughter with the disabilities is actually better adjusted to the world then her family.

- VAL KILMER
In 1994, I was not particularly happy about the news of ‘Batman 3’. Michael Keaton choosing not to do the third installment of the franchise. He had defined the film adaptation of the character. 'Batman' (1989) was great and 'Batman Returns' (1992) was okay but too violent in my regards. I was doubtful that Val Kilmer was going to be able to fill those shoes. He was great in ‘Top Gun’; ‘Tombstone’; ‘The Doors’, but this was different. This was BATMAN!! Batman is larger then life. When I saw Kilmer in the role, I was not expecting much. The promos looked good but ads can be misleading. I was wrong. ‘Batman Forever’ (1995) was awesome and Kilmer was great. More like the comic book version of The Dark Knight. Not Keaton but that was okay. A Batman who questioned if he needed to walk away. A Batman that needed help. Not sure who he was anymore still burdened by the memories of his parent's death. A Batman that found himself beyond the struggles. Not angry driven but purpose. Contemplative of the obstacles round him. Showing vulnerability. So layered. Still a favorite. Loved the costume, except for the biological accuracy and world building was fun. I am sorry to see that Kilmer has gone home to God. I was glad having him around. He fought throat cancer for over a decade, never falling to defeat. Free now of pain and with God. Cannot think of a bad role he had. A style and charisma rarely seen. He lived his faith. He was a fantastic performer and you believed in him. Rest in God. May peace be with your family. And may you be remembered as Batman…Forever
- MY TEN FAVORITE QUOTES FROM MY TWO FAVORITE BATMAN FILMS MADE IN THE 90'S
I loved two of the four Batman films. 'Batman' and 'Batman Forever' are awesome. True to the comic lore. 'Batman Returns' is good but disjointed. 'Batman and Robin' is...weird. More cartoony then anything else, I guess. These are my favorite lines from My favorite two films. The first had a lot more memorable lines in my opinion. 10. 'For if knowledge is power, then a god am... I!' - Riddler to Batman ('Batman Forever' 1995) 9. 'Now comes the part where I relieve you, the little people, of the burden of your failed and useless lives. But, as my plastic surgeon always said: if you gotta go, go with a smile.' - Joker to Gotham ('Batman' 1989) 8. 'Winged freak terrorizes? Wait till they get a load of me!' - Joker talks to Himself ('Batman' 1989) 7. 'I made you, you made me first.- Batman to Joker ('Batman' 1989) 6. 'Poor Edward. I had to save them both. You see, I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Not because I have to be. Now... because I choose to be.' - Batman to Riddler ('Batman Forever' 1995) 5. ‘Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?’ – Joker to Bruce Wayne (‘Batman’ 1989) 4. ‘One man is born a hero, his brother a coward. Babies starve, politicians grow fat. Holy men are martyred, and junkies grow legion. Why? Why, why, why, why, why? Luck! Blind, stupid, simple, doo-dah, clueless luck!’ – Two Face to a Bank Guard (‘Batman Forever’ 1995) 3. ‘Broken wings mend in time. One day Robin will fly again. I promise.’ – Alfred to Dick in (‘Batman Forever’ 1995) 2. ‘Then it will happen this way: You make the kill, but your pain doesn't die with Harvey, it grows. So you run out into the night to find another face, and another, and another, until one terrible morning you wake up and realize that revenge has become your whole life. And you won't know why.’ – Bruce to Dick in (‘Batman Forever’ 1995) 1. 'I have no wish to fill my few remaining years grieving for the loss of old friends. Or their sons'. - Alfred Pennyworth 'Batman' (1989)
